About Us

Manukau Urban Maori Authority has 20 year history of community based service delivery to Urban Maori in South Auckland Region.

Originally it was established in 1986(as an incorporated Society) to provide education and training to the Maori community. To teach and promote cultural, spiritual and political awareness. To develop enterprises for employment and economic base to provide for wellbeing of Maori in South Auckland. At the heart of MUMA is Nga Whare Waatea Marae, located in Mangere and comprises of four main whare: whare whakairo, wharepuni, whare karakia and wharekai. It serves Maori values of manaakitanga, aroha ki te tangata, mana tane, mana wahine and provides safe and secure environment for the delivery of MUMA Social Service Programmes.
